Tori Account Deletion
Last updated 4 September 2026
You can delete your Tori account in the app from Settings → Account and device data → Delete account.
If you can no longer open the app, email support@usetori.com from the address on your Tori account and ask for your account to be deleted. We may need additional information to verify that the account belongs to you. Never send your password or a sign-in code.
Subscriptions
Deleting your Tori account does not cancel a subscription purchased through the App Store, Google Play, or web billing. To stop future renewal charges, cancel through the store or billing portal where you subscribed. You can use Manage subscription in Tori Settings when available. You do not have to cancel a subscription before deleting your account, and account deletion is not held up by subscription cancellation.
What deletion removes
- Your email address, name, phone number, profile photo reference, Google account identifier and password hash are removed from the active account record.
- Your account and household access are disabled, refresh tokens are revoked, and existing credentials can no longer authorize new requests.
- Images registered to you personally are marked for removal. Images belonging to a shared household remain with that household.
- Any household where you are the only remaining member, including its inventory, locations, shopping lists, saved recipes and unaccepted invitations, is deleted. Its registered images are marked for removal.
What remains
If you share a household with someone else, that household's inventory stays with the people still in it. Removing your account profile does not automatically redact names, notes, photos or other personal information you put into shared content. If deleting your account would leave a shared household with no manager, another active member is promoted automatically.
A limited account record remains to keep shared history working. Billing and operational records, security and administrative audit records, product-lookup feedback, and AI service cost and usage metadata may also remain. These records can contain internal account or transaction identifiers; feedback and administrative notes can contain text entered by people. They are not necessarily anonymous. Contact support@usetori.com if you need help with personal information in retained records or shared content.
Deleting your Tori account does not automatically erase records held by payment, billing, analytics or AI service providers. Their retention policies apply, and a separate deletion request or provider process may be needed. Contact Tori support for help identifying the relevant provider.
Data on your devices
After the server confirms deletion in the app, Tori clears its local database, settings and sign-in state on that device. If this cleanup fails, the app tells you. Deletion does not remotely wipe other devices or remove exports, downloaded copies, or photos saved outside Tori. Clear those copies separately if needed.
Timing
Account access is revoked when the deletion request succeeds. Media marked for removal is made inaccessible through Tori, and Tori attempts to delete the stored objects. Failed storage deletions are retried by background cleanup, so physical removal may finish later.
Backup and restore copies can retain deleted information after removal from the active service. Those copies are handled through backup retention and operational maintenance. Completion times vary with storage availability, backup maintenance, account verification and provider processes.
